Update

Alex is doing well. For anyone who doesn't know, we had a fun ride to the hospital on Friday night. During the day I took him to the Dr for a cough that he's had for a while now. The Dr wanted to try an inhaler for asthma because he gets this cough a lot. When we got home he had lunch and took a nap. After his nap he had a bit of a fever. I sat on the couch and watched a movie while he laid down and kind of slept while watching it with me. Suddenly he sat up and started crying. Then he started seizing. This is his second seizure. When he had the first one, in June, the ER had told us to just watch him the next time he had one. They said if he wasn't breathing or if the seizure lasted longer than 3 minutes that's when I had to worry. Well... it's really hard to watch your son have a seizure and not react. I only waited about 30 seconds. I grabbed my keys and my purse to take him to the hospital (it's only 3 blocks away) but then I realized I didn't want him in his carseat in the back of the car while he was having a seizure so I called 911. While on the phone with the 911 operator he stopped seizing (about 2 minutes total) and just fell asleep right way. The paramedics got here and he wouldn't even wake up. They even checked his blood (they said the most common reason kids his age have seizures is fevers, the second most common reason is low blood sugar) and when they pricked his finger he didn't even twitch. This really worried me. Finally after about 5 minutes, he woke up and the paramedics took us to the hospital. My mom and dad and Jen and Shaylee met us there. When we got there his temperature was 103.9. The Dr figured that's why he had the seizure, but then the question was why was his fever so high? They did a chest x-ray and found out he has pneumonia. They sent us home with some antibiotics and that was that. They had asked if I'd be more comfortable keeping him in the hospital but I decided it would be best to take him home. I think he had another seizure in the night because when he woke up he had blood in his mouth like he had bitten his tongue or something. But he's doing ok now. He only stayed awake for a total of about 5 hours on Saturday and about 8 hours today but the rest is probably good for him. He finally ate for the first time tonight since Friday afternoon, so I'm sure that's a good sign. Anyway, when he's awake, he's either laying on me watching TV or he's up playing around so he's slowly getting better. Just wanted to keep everyone posted...

Christmas

Be prepared, this is a long post, mostly because there are a lot of pictures....

I have yet to post anything about Christmas so here goes. Alex had TONS of fun on Christmas. On Christmas Eve, I got off work early and we came home and decorated the Christmas tree. Alex helped of course.

Later that night we went to my mom and dad's and we helped decorate the tree there. Uncle Brian and Uncle Cliff were both there too and we had fun. Something funny about the tree was that when we put the angel on it looked funny so my dad took the angel off and cut the top of the tree off! Then he started drilling holes in the tree and cutting off branches from what he had cut off the top and he put those branches in the holes! He says he does that every year but i've never seen him do it. It was funny to watch him ghetto rig the tree... and I thought my tree was ghetto! LOL.

On Christmas Alex woke up at about 9:30. We had already gotten phone calls from my sister saying she wanted us to come to my moms to open presents so I woke him up. He opened his presents from me (which ended up being nothing compared to what everyone else got him) and he had breakfast. From me (Santa) he got a book, mega blocks (the big huge legos), a toy box, and a couple other little toys.

We went to my mom and dads and got presents from Kelly, Michelle, Mom, Dad, Uncle Brian, Uncle Cliff and my Grandparents. Alex got bath toys, an EAGLES sippy cup, a chair to watch TV in, clothes, a little canteen, some money, a CD of kids songs (which is perfect because he dances to every song he hears and it's good for in the car), and a mini ATV. He got used to opening presents after a while and loved ripping apart the paper.

A couple days later we went to the other Grandma's house and he got a "Spin N' Bounce Pony" which he can sit on and when he bounces, it does stuff on the TV.

Then he also got a Little People airplane and a Chicken Flashlight which he loves from Kristy and William. And he got a Tool Bench with little electric tools and stuff from Jen and Jerry.
Alex has way too many toys now and he LOVES it! We had a great Christmas and unfortunately I had to go back to work the day after Christmas.
